Èze Village, French Riviera – A Fairytale Stop on Our Riviera Road Trip

Exploring the cobbled streets of Eze village on the French Riviera, France.

If you’re planning a trip along the French Riviera, visiting Èze Village should be high on your list. Perched high above the Mediterranean between Nice and Monaco, this beautiful medieval village is one of the most magical stops you can make on a Riviera road trip.

Where Is Èze Village on the French Riviera?

Èze is a stunning medieval village on the French Riviera, perched high on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean coastline. Located between Nice and Monaco, it’s one of the most picturesque villages in the region and a popular stop for travelers exploring the Riviera.

Èze was actually one of our first stops as we began exploring the French Riviera. A place that set the tone for the rest of our time along this beautiful stretch of coast.

Ok… let’s jump straight into Part 2

… because Èze.

Èze, Èze, Èze.

If Èze were a human, it would be Prince Charming.

Strong. Elegant. Full of character. Handsome in that quietly confident way.

The moment you step inside this little village, it honestly feels like bells should be chiming, like you’ve wandered straight into a Disney castle.

Every corner of Èze felt like it belonged in a fairytale.

I moved through those cobbled paths fully leaning into the fantasy, having a proper main character moment.

And I’ll be honest… before I even landed in France, I’d researched the hell out of this place. Saved Instagram reels. Pinterest boards. Screenshots. The lot.

Sometimes when you do that, you risk spoiling it like you’ve already seen it before you arrive. But nothing, and I mean nothing, prepared me for how magical Èze actually is. No photo or reel takes away from the feeling of being there. The magic just oozes out of it.

Èze is a stunning medieval village perched high on a cliff, overlooking the French Riviera which means breathtaking views from almost every angle. The day we arrived was hot hot. Proper Riviera heat. But even then, every step just made me want to explore more.

I spent hours wandering…quietly giddy… taking in fairytale buildings, bursts of flowers, winding cobblestone streets, and that calm, almost hushed atmosphere that seems to echo around every corner.

Little details like this were everywhere in Èze if you slowed down enough to notice them.

It’s one of those places that doesn’t shout for attention… it just has it.

Jardin Exotique d’Èze – Is It Worth Visiting?

Cactus garden at Jardin Exotique overlooking the French Riviera in Èze village
The Jardin Exotique might be full of incredible plants, but the real showstopper is the view over the French Riviera.

One of the best things?

We barely spent any money at all. The beauty did all the work for us.

The one thing we did pay for, and I’m so glad we did, was the Jardin Exotique d’Èze. For €8 per person, you can enter the botanical gardens right at the very top of the village… and honestly, it’s worth every single euro.

The gardens are filled with beautiful plants and striking cacti … but it’s the views that steal the show. Standing up there, looking out over the coastline, it really hits you just how special this place is.

Now… let’s be fair. Outside of the views, the gardens were probably more my thing than the kids’. Ever known teens to get excited about plants?

No. Me neither. 😂

What to Do in Èze Village

So once we’d explored, we headed back down into the village and did exactly what you’re meant to do here. Found a gorgeous café, grabbed cold drinks and ice creams, and just sat… watching the world drift by.

Sometimes the best thing to do in a place like Èze is simply sit for a while and let the village unfold around you.

No rushing.

No ticking boxes.

Just soaking it all in.

Èze was the perfect way to spend half a day  a gentle, fairytale pause in our French Riviera road trip. And honestly? “Stunning” doesn’t even come close.
